College is hard, no doubt about it! The class load, the homework, closing down the library every night, 8 a.m. classes, work, clubs, more work, and being away from family and friends that may live or go to school in another town. Let us not forget time management! It is a must in college! Time management must come even before laundry, or you will sink instead of swim. It’s easy to see why so many college students are not morning people! I used to be one of the worst… So, here are 5 tips that will help you become a morning person and get you to those early classes on time.
Your body craves a schedule and will thank you later. I promise… Not only plan a time to TRY to go to sleep, but most importantly, have a routine for when you get up. Sleep requirements vary slightly from person to person, but most healthy adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Having a repetitive schedule every morning will help too. For example, wake up, work out, shower, and eat a healthy breakfast, but don’t forget the coffee! It’s good to schedule a few minutes just to think while you enjoy your coffee. Get positive vibes going that will last throughout your day!
Plan your outfit ahead of time and be organized. Find your TGI Greek attire the night before so it’s not still in the washer! Waking up frazzled is not the way to start your day. Use a cute planner to make your life easier even on the most difficult of days. It will at least give you the illusion that you have it all together haha.
DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
Love the career path you have chosen. If you don’t, maybe you should reconsider it. (unless it’s the third time you have done so this year!) After all of your hard work and dedication to your classes and goals, make time for hobbies or the things you love. If you’re on a budget like most college students, surround yourself with the people you love. Friendship doesn’t cost a thing!
TRY SOMETHING NEW
Go on a new adventure. Take a random road trip. Try for that position in your club that you have always wanted. Remember, by getting up early you will have more time to make things happen!
This is a tough one, especially if you are like me and believe that naps are LIFE! However, naps can ruin the schedule you have already made for yourself and make it hard to go to bed at a decent time. Besides life is filled with opportunities, so don’t sleep them away!
So, if you have a lot to do by tomorrow morning – go pick out your favorite outfit, find your planner and see what’s on your hot agenda, and remember no napping! You’ve got too much living to do in the right now! P.S. Don’t forget that a bedtime means a bedtime and not another episode on Netflix!
